Favorite Knits for Spring and Summer

Favorite Knits for Spring and Summer

We all love knitting a warm, wool sweater but there are plenty of advantages to knitting for spring and summer. With no long sleeves to knit and less yarn to buy, spring and summer garments are typically quicker to knit and easier on the wallet. If you don’t know where to start or you’re looking for inspiration, here are some tried and true patterns recommended by Harmony.

Vacation Vest by Park & Knit

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vacation-vest

The Vacation Vest is a super cute, versatile top for summer. Wear it by itself or layer it over a tee or dress. It features two hook and eye closures and a crocheted edge for a finished look. Using a worsted weight yarn, it will knit up quite quickly. Just in time to take with you on vacation!

Our recommended yarn: Noro Haunui Cotton

Quantity: 1 skein for sizes XS-M; 2 skeins for sizes L-5XL

Tolsta Tee by Creabea

The Tolsta Tee is a highly popular raglan-style tee and for good reason! The pattern provides instructions for different customizations like stripes and other textures. If you take a look at how others have knit it, you will see that the possibilities are endless!

Our recommended yarn: Cascade Yarns Hampton

Quantity: 2-5 skeins depending on your size

Montpellier Top by November Knits

 https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/montpellier-top

The Montpellier Top is a slightly chunkier summer top. It features a ribbed collar and a thick ribbing around the armholes that continues down the sides. The top does well on its own in the summer and then makes a great layering vest in the fall and winter. It gets bonus points for being a quick knit!

Recommended yarn: Anchor Bay by Cascade Yarns (2 strands held together)

Quantity: 4-8 skeins depending on your size

Mystic Square Top by James Watts

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mystic-square

The Mystic Square top is a beautiful, modular tee that is made for showing off the beauty of Noro (we love Noro at Harmony). The pattern starts by knitting one square and then joining or seaming the rest as you go. Mix and match a few different Noro colorways for added interest or use the same Noro colorway. With Noro, it will end up beautiful no matter what!

Recommended yarn: Noro Silk Garden

Outline Tee by Jessie Mae

Out of all these recommendations, the Outline Tee is the lightest and flowiest option. Made with a plant fiber fingering-weight yarn, the tee is ideal for long, hot summers.
