Cascade 220 Aran & Aran Wave

- an Aran weight, 100% Superwash Merino wool yarn.

Cascade 220 Aran is a super soft aran weight yarn. Its sister substrate, 220 Superwash Aran Wave is the same composition, but multicolored. Together, these two are a power team!

Cost: $13

Meterage: 150 yards (137.5 meters)

Here are some projects we think would be a great fit for this yarn:

Bankhead

Pattern by: Susie Gourlay

We think this Bankhead pattern would be beautiful with 220 Aran or 220 Aran Wave depending on what look you are going for. It is designed for a worsted weight yarn, but we think it would still work great. Just be sure to do a gauge swatch first ;)

Turn A Square

Pattern by: Jared Flood

This beanie is unique with its pattern that visually turns the circular stripes into squares due to its "compass point" decrease lines. Either 220 Aran or 220 Aran Wave would be great for this pattern- or maybe even a combo!

Cost: $5

Baby Sophisticate

Pattern by: Linden Down

If you're looking for a quick and satisfying knit for your 220 Aran, this guy is a good bet! It's a top down raglan sweater, and between the small size and aran weight yarn, it's bound to go quick! The designer says "I think the shawl collar adds an air of sophistication - like this baby belongs in a library, sipping tea and reading Shakespeare!"

Marisha Vest

Pattern by: Jelena Nemcenko

This vest is GORGEOUS! I love the multicolored yarn the designer used, and I think 220 Aran Wave would make a wonderful version. This is a crochet pattern with detailed written and photo instructions, as well as a crochet chart. The designer says it comes together fast!

Cost: $6.99

Step By Step Sweater

Pattern by: Florence Miller

This pattern is a simple top down raglan sweater, with clear written and video instructions. It is intended to be a good pattern for first time sweater knitters! It is designed for an Aran weight yarn, and we think 220 Aran would be so perfectly soft and comfortable for your first sweater!

Step By Step Cardigan

Pattern by: Florence Miller

This pattern from the same designer above follows the same step by step ethos, but this time it's a cardigan! This patterns looks a bit more difficult than the last one- it would be a perfect follow-up pattern to the Step by Step Sweater for building some new skills!

Cost: $8.42, with pay-what-you-can options!

Granny Square Book Sleeve

Pattern by: Fay Lyth

Our last pattern recommendation for Superwash 220 Aran and Aran Wave is this darling granny square book sleeve! This would be such a good single skein project, and it has instructions to adapt it to any size.

Cost: $2.45, or free on the designer's blog.
