Rose Raglan Button Up / PDF Pattern

$ 16.00

This is a digital PDF sewing pattern, not a physical product.

The Rose Raglan Button Up is a fun take on an over-sized classic men’s shirt. It has raglan sleeves, and instead of a classic back yoke, the yoke is part of the sleeve. You have the option of a classic two piece collar or a convertible one piece collar, curved hem, or a banded straight hem, and pleated sleeves or wide sleeves. You can mix and match between the different views as you like. Instead of a traditional sleeve placket, the slit sits in the sleeve seam. The flat felled seams mean that you will be able to see topstitching, so you can choose either matching or contrasting thread.

This pattern will teach you some fun techniques including:

  • Flat felled seams without a special presser foot
  • Grown-on sleeve placket with flat felled seams
  • How to sew a collar and collar stand (View A)
  • How to sew a convertible collar and attach it to the neckline in a super clean way—without using a facing. (View B)
  • How to attach a cuff

Fabric suggestions:

This pattern is made for woven fabrics. The look and feel of the shirt will change a lot depending on the fabric you choose. Something light like cotton lawn or seersucker will make the perfect beach cover-up or pajama top. Something mid-weight like linen, chambray, or cotton poplin will make a gorgeous everyday shirt. Flannel would make it a cozy over-shirt, and you could even make it in denim or canvas for more of a jacket feel.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

I was born and raised in Sweden, and studied Fashion Design and Pattern Making there. In my twenties I came to Hawai'i, fell in love with a local surfer, and now we are raising our three boys on the island of O'ahu. I feel incredibly blessed to call this amazing place home!

I started my pattern making/technical design career in 2016 in Honolulu, working for small, local brands. After a few years I fell pregnant with my first son, and decided I wanted to freelance when I became a mother. My job now is so fun and multi-faceted. I still work with a lot of local brands, and I even get to pattern and grade for a lot of people that I met through Instagram, in addition to running my own little pattern design studio, Paradise Patterns. I love having one foot in the clothing manufacturing business as well as the home sewing community!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and please feel free to email me with any questions!

xx, Sanna
