Calvin Crop / PDF Pattern

$ 18.00

This is a digital PDF sewing pattern, not a physical product.

The Calvin Crop is the perfect elevated basic. Featuring a high cut square neckline and a criss-cross back. The interior is lined, all the edges are finished in bias binding, and there are long ties at the waist.

This INTERMEDIATE LEVEL sewing pattern has BEGINNER FRIENDLY sewing instructions, illustrations, and an accompanying video tutorial to make the construction easy to follow. That being said, the design elements are suitable for intermediate level sewists. You will learn how to make bias tape, how to sew bias binding, how to sew gathers, and how to sew a lining.

Sizing: 0 - 34, which correlate to Full Bust 31"-57" and Waist 24"-50". See full body measurement and fabric requirement charts in photos.

The garment was designed for a B cup, which is a 2" (5 cm) difference between the upper bust and full bust measurements; however, if you have larger than a 2" (5 cm) difference, there are detailed directions for fit adjustments on page 12 of the instructions.

Fabric needed: 7/8 to 1 3/8  yards of main fabric depending on view, size, and fabric width. Optional lining requires an additional 3/8 yard. See photos for more details.

Fabric suggestions: This pattern is designed for light to midweight fabrics such as linen, suiting, or denim. You may also use heavier weight fabrics such as canvas or wool, but if you do, we recommend omitting the fusible interfacing and using a lighter weight fabric for the lining pieces. Please note that we DO NOT recommend using fabrics with a tight weave, such as quilting cotton or cotton poplin. During testing we found that tightly woven fabrics did not offer the necessary give along the bias to fit the body well, especially at the armband.

The pattern calls for lining fabric, which is used for lining the under bust on the front of the top, and optionally the upper bust on the front of the top. Using a separate lining fabric on the upper bust is only necessary if the rest of your garment is being sewn from a light weight fabric, or if your fabric is too sheer for your comfort when worn. If you're using a lightweight fabric for the garment, you can use the same fabric for both the lining and the garment.

Use: The Calvin Crop Pattern is intended for personal use only, and cannot be used for profit or resale of finished garments unless given written permission from Jessica Capalbo.
