Fabric needed: 0.4-0.7 yards depending on width, possibly more if you are using a directional print. See photos for more details. You will also need a 5/8" x 36" wooden dowel, 12oz polyfil or cotton stuffing, lightweight fusible interfacing, lace/trim/yarn/ribbon for the mane (optional), and embroidery floss (optional).
Fabric suggestions: Linen, cotton canvas, and cotton poplin are ideal. The pattern will also work well with light- to mid-weight wovens including cotton twill, denim, and cotton lawn.
Structured fabrics help the horse hold its shape. Lightweight fusible interfacing can make the embroidered facial features easier to sew. Polyfill creates a soft, lightweight toy, while scrap fabric or cotton stuffing creates a firmer finish. Yarn, ribbon, lace, or fabric strips can all be used to customize the mane.
Use: Limited commercial use is allowed under certain conditions and with express permission from Madswick. Madswick patterns may be used to create garments for sale in small quantities. We ask that a pattern be purchased for each garment sold and that the cost of the pattern be built into your pricing.
